Eros was explained by Renaissance philosopher/magician Giordano Bruno as the animating
force of the universe(s), and as the Chain of Chains. Eros is today misunderstood as merely
Romantic or sexual love, which is only one of its many forms. Furthermore, what we experience
as Hate, or any negative emotionfeelingmood, is in fact Eros as only the other extreme on the
spectrum of desire. Frustrated, thwarted desire, pain at lacking what we desire, is also then
Eros. Because of the power of Eros, this is the Chain of Chains: a person is so susceptible to
their innermost desires (negative and positive) they may be directly affected by another's
phantasms (the communicable mediator between the body and the soul, the mind’s eye, inner
sense) just as intensely as their own.
I paint my Chain of Chains, phantasmic transmissions to the pneumatic Soul intercepted on
materials of the earth, materials both “artificial’ and ‘natural’.
Veins Darken with Nectar
Tide pools, inundated life, the clinging aftermath, these are what remain after the crashing
waves have receded.
What is inner, raw and wild, is made material, colorful, condensed and focused.
What is inner, raw and wild, is realized and tamed with paint and what is at hand at home.
Senses float on blood to the heart, are transmuted to images and then intercepted on materials
of the earth, selectively revealed.
Fascination is a force which, emanating from the spirit of the fascinator, enters the eyes of the
fascinated person and penetrates their heart.
Solitary Beings are nestled in hollows of charged scenery amidst ineffable symbols.
Floral-vegetal-biological-mineral-synthetic efflorescence: the play of nature and artifice.
